An extraordinary journey to Gombe in Tanzania brought conservation artist Becci Crowe face to face with the wild sons and daughters of the chimpanzees Dr. Jane Goodall studied for so many years.
Inspired by the view from Jane’s Peak and the beauty of the surrounding forests that Dr. Goodall grew to love, Becci created Gombe Awakening. This piece shares the intimate moment Becci witnessed during the first stirrings of morning by a mother name Schweini, holding her still sleepy son, Shwali, as the sun cast its light over the forest canopy.
Gombe Awakening is created in Pen & Ink Pointillism and Watercolor. It is dedicated to Dr. Goodall and benefits the mission and programs of the Jane Goodall Institute.
