After an extraordinary journey to the Republic of Congo to be in the field with Dr. Jane Goodall and the rescued chimpanzee orphans at Tchimpounga, artist Becci Crowe was inspired to create portraits which express the uniqueness of character and life of each individual.
Lemba caught Becci’s attention immediately. Lemba’s legs were paralyzed by polio but she has learned to roll and somersault her body along the ground to go wherever she wants and climbs with her strong upper body. Curious and playful, she doesn’t let much slow her down.
Lemba’s spirit shines through Becci’s portrait which is created in Pen & Ink Pointillism. It is dedicated to Dr. Goodall and benefits the mission and programs of the Jane Goodall Institute.
